Serbia’s Trade Minister called on Turkish businesspeople on Friday to continue with their investments into the country, having in mind positive experience of those who already had ventured in Serbia, the Beta news agency reported.

“Everyone who decided to start production in Serbia now considers an increase in their capacity. That speaks about the stability and business environment for the investments here,” Rasim Ljajic told a gathering of Turkey’s Business Association for Foreign Economic Relations (DEIK), held in Istanbul.

Bajram Akgul, the DEIK coordinator for Serbia, said that despite the current economic situation in Turkey, its businessmen were still interested in investing in Serbia because “it is the most important investment destination in the region for us.”

The Free Trade Agreement which Serbia has with the third countries makes it even more attractive, Akgul has added.

The talks about future cooperation between the two states will be on the agenda of the forthcoming International Economic Fair in Izmir, where Serbia will be the partner country.
