US Ambassador to Serbia Kyle Scott called Belgrade and Pristina to show courage, flexibility and creativity in finding a solution to normalize their relations while the American embassy in Pristina warned that any solution has to be sustainable and not cause instability anywhere in the region.
A press release from the Serbian President’s cabinet said that Scott told President Aleksandar Vucic that a solution reached by the two sides should contribute to regional stability. Vucic said during the meeting that a compromise needs to be found to guarantee lasting stability and economic progress.
The US embassy in Pristina said in response to a question from the Gazetaexpress portal that it’s up to Belgrade and Pristina to reach an agreement but warned that they will not have unlimited freedom while searching for a solution.
“Kosovo and Serbia should reach an agreement which is viable, sustainable and does not create instability in any country in the region,” the embassy said in a written reply, adding that it does not want to take part in a debate on hypothetical elements of a solution.
