Official Washington will declare its stance on a possible Belgrade-Pristina agreement only after seeing it, but it is ready to help both sides, US Ambassador to Serbia Kyle Scott stated for Belgrade media.

The ambassador does not expect the US President Donald Trump’s administration to drastically change the stance of Washington on the status of Kosovo.

Speaking for the Radio of Belgrade, Scott said the interests of America did not change from one presidential term to another and that its goal was the peace and stability in the Balkans as well as a transformation towards democracy and strengthening of economic relations.

The USA believes there is no stability and prosperity in the Western Balkans without normalisation of the relations and a long-term agreement between Belgrade and Pristina, the ambassador said.

Solving the issue of Kosovo, the US diplomat said, requires courageous leaders and readiness for creative solutions. “America’s hand was extended to Serbia, and it is on Serbia to accept it,” he added.
