Serbia’ former President Boris Tadic accused his successor Aleksandar Vucic of lying to justify his policy on Kosovo which Tadic claims is leading to the surrender of all Serbian interests.

“The leaders of the great powers who support Kosovo’s independence always called me to recognize that independence as a fair accompli and blame the former authorities. I never did that, not just because it would be dishonourable and not statesmanlike but also because my goal was to fight for the interests of Serbia not for international praise or to stay in power at any cost,” he said.  

Tadic, a psychologist by training, said he also refused a demand by German Chancellor Angela Merkel to abolish Serbian institutions in northern Kosovo, which Vucic accepted.  

“She certainly does not meet with him because of his ingenuity, wit or peace-making skills because he has none of those traits since he is an aggressive and pathological liar. She receives him because he agrees to all her demands and brags about it, calling his servility the altered image of Serbia in the world,” Tadic said.
