Two Kosovo police officers who had been suspended on suspicion of manipulating evidence in a high-profile murder case have been reinstated, the KoSSev portal reported on Wednesday.

The police officers, identified only by their initials, were charged with manipulating evidence in the killing of Kosovo Serb political leader Oliver Ivanovic.

Senior police officer Besim Hoti confirmed that the suspensions were lifted and the two policemen were going back to work but could not provide any details of the investigation which he said had been conducted by the Police Inspectorate.

The two police officers were arrested on February 10, three weeks after Ivanovic was gunned down in front of his party headquarters in northern Mitrovica. Prosecutor Shuqri Sula said that a video of the two men at the scene of the killing showed that they removed one shell casing and were on the phone with someone all the time.
