The Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Sem Fabrizi, said the European Union noticed a good work of Serbia’s Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC), the Commission website reported.

Fabrizi added the European Commission had noticed that in its 2018 Serbia report.

In his meeting with the Commission President Miloje Obradovic, he said that “fair competition is an essential element of a transparent business environment in Serbia. The EU very much appreciates the work that the Commission for Protection of Competition has done in the past years.”

“I encourage the Commission to continue such work and call on all relevant stakeholders to ensure that the Commission can continue to exercise its mandate in the requested fully independent manner,” the website quoted Fabrizi as saying.

It added that the main topics in the meeting included the activities of the Commission aimed at enhancing business environment in Serbia, especially those related to the accession negotiations with the EU in the area of Competition Policy, covered by Chapter 8.

Obradovic introduced Fabrizi to the work results and plans of the Commission on the draft of a new Law on Protection of Competition and further harmonisation of the national competition legislation with the EU acquis.
