Serbia’s government said on Thursday it would financially help Japan with 500,000 Euros after devastating floods that took 200 lives and caused enormous material damage to the island nation in the Pacific, an official statement said.

It added that the government “has in mind the aid Japan has provided to Serbia during the 2014 floods in the country when Tokyo donated five million Euros, and the people of Japan added two million more, as well as other donations that followed.”

Japan is currently hit by high temperatures and lack of water that might cause a spread of infectious diseases in the western part of the country that suffered the worst weather conditions in 36 years.
