The Kosovo Security Forces will be transformed into a military without the votes of the Serb List in parliament, Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said on Monday.
The institutions of Kosovo will be forced to transform the Security Forces into the Armed Forces of Kosovo through a law and not through changes to the Constitution because the Serb List refuses to vote for it, he said.
“The changes to the Constitution are almost impossible because they require the votes of two thirds of the MPs as well as the votes of the minority MPs which means the Serbs. Since something like that is impossible we will be forced to form the Army of Kosovo through a law,” Haradinaj said.
Serb List MPs are fully opposed to the transformation of the Kosovo Security Forces into a military formation while representatives of the international community are opposed to the transformation through a law and not through changes to the constitution.
