The Serbian government’s gender equality body has drawn up its first report on preventing violence against women which will be submitted to a Council of Europe (CoE) body, Thursday’s press release said.

The government Coordination Body on Gender Equality said it would submit the report to the CoE’s GREVIO (Group of Experts on Action against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence) – an independent expert body responsible for monitoring the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (the Istanbul Convention).

The Coordination Body is headed by deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlovic.

The press release said the report will be made public once the government adopts it and added that includes all legal and strategic measures introduced to combat gender-based violence and statistics.
