The Serbian police closed a section of the Belgrade-Nis highway after a fight broke out between rival football supporter clubs.

According to a press release by the Putevi Srbije roads company, the police closed the section of highway from Belgrade at the Nais toll booth just outside of Nis after two groups of Partizan Belgrade football club supporters clashed at around 02:00 pm.

Both groups were going to a Partizan – Mladost Lucani match in the town of Surdulica south of Nis.   Partizan FC supporters have split into three rival factions. The Partizan FC management wanted the match relocated to a bigger stadium to prevent physical contact between the factions.
