Belgrade’s communal services collected some 200 cubic metres of various types of waste following the May 1 holiday which is traditionally celebrated with picnics and day-long outings.
Belgrade city government official Darko Glavas said that some 500 communal services staff collected 200 cubic meters of garbage left behind on city picnic grounds.
Asked about a video showing a group of young men chopping down a tree on the Kostutnjak picnic grounds, Glavas said charges had been filed against the men.
Serbia’s Environmental Protection Minister Goran Trivan said he wants criminal charges filed against the men who chopped down the tree.
