Minister Trivan says the law on climate change should be something everyone will implement
Serbia’s Environment Minister Goran Trivan called for a new law on climate change.
Speaking at a public debate on that law, Trivan said it was important because Serbia is in a region greatly affected by climate change, adding that it should harmonize the country’s standards on toxic gas emissions with European Union legislature.
He said he was in favor of a law that would gradually bring Serbia’s regulations in line with the EU acqui communitaire and warned that “industry will bypass” it if we raise the bar too high. It’s better to adopt a law that everyone will implement, Trivan said.
The average annual temperature in this region is rising faster than in other parts of the world and we have to lower the emissions of carbon dioxide, sulfur and other toxic gases.
