Ivanovic’s killers unkonwn two months after assasination

Two months after the murder of the Citizens’ aliance SDP leader Oliver Ivanovic in Northern Moitrovica the punlic has no information on what the investigation’s results have been so far.

A week ago, Kosovo Speacial Prosecutor Office took charge of the case, saying it brought a number of criminal shatrges, but that there was no any suspect.

Two Serbian policemen were taken into custody three weeks after the assasination suspected of contaminating the crime sceene, taking a shell case and not handing it over with other evidence.

After the custody term expired, the Mitrovica court  set them free.

Northern Mitrovica is highly contested part of North Kosovo a region with an ethnic Serbsmajority that functions largely autonomously from Kosovo ethnic Albanian majority. The municipality was established in 2013 after North kosovo region, previously being the settlement of the city of Mitrovica, divided by the Ibar river. After the 2013 Brussels Agreement the municipality was to become the administrative center of the Community of Serb Municipalities, but the Agreement has not been implemented yet.

In 2015 report bythe OSCE, the population of North Mitrovica municipality was 29,460 inhabitants.The majority in North Mitrovica municipality is made up of Kosovo Serbswith more than 22,530 inhabitants (76.4 odsto), while 4,900 (16.6 odsto) are Kosovo Albanians.
