A rock band fell apart and several public figures denied that they support Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s election ticket following the publication of a list of 2,000 people who are claimed to have pledged their support.

The Kolja i Grobovlasnici band’s concert in Belgrade was canceled after its frontman Nikola Pejakovic signed the list supporting the Vucic election ticket. Initial reports said the concert was canceled due to technical reasons but then the band’s keyboard player spoke out to say that Pejakovic can support whoever he wants but that the rest of the band does not agree.

Among the public figures who denied signing what Vucic called the book of decent and good people are a poet, the coach of the national kayak team and a theater director.

Poet Ivan Novcic said that he did not sign anything nor was he called to do so by the ruling party, adding that he does not have an electronic signature. “I would not have signed this just as I wouldn’t sign the ProGlas initiative,” he said.

Kayak team coach Uros Mitjev said that he signed nothing. “My view is that as a sports official and the coach of the national team I should be in the service of all the people which means absolutely politically neutral,” he said.

Theater director Darijan Mihajlovic simply said “I only signed ProGlas”.
