The Kosovo Police is investigating a nationalist graffiti painted on a school football field in Mitrovica North, the KoSSev news portal said on Monday.

It said that the words When the Army Returns to Kosovo was painted on the football field of a vocational high school in the majority-Serb part of the divided city. The police said an investigation was launched into the “fanning of hatred, divisions and intolerance”.

The same graffiti has been painted over the past few weeks in several places in Serbia, the Republika Srpska in Bosnia-Herzegovina and in Montenegro and has been used by football supporters at games. The graffiti was painted in Zubin Potok in north Kosovo late in August.
