Inflation in January up 6.4 percent year-on-year

Prices of goods and services used for personal consumption in January 2024 in relation to December 2023 increased by 0.3 percent, on average, said Serbia's Statistic Office (RZS).

Consumer prices in January 2024 increased by 6.4 percent in relation to January 2023, said the RZS.

“Observed by main groups according to the destination of consumption, in January 2024 in relation to the previous month, increase of prices was noted in the group Health (0.7 percent), in the groups Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, and Recreation and culture and Restaurants and hotels (each by 0.6 percent), Food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.5 percent), Alcoholic beverages and tobacco and Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (each by 0.2 percent) and in the group Transport (0.1 percent). Decrease of prices was noted in the group Clothing and footwear (-1.3 percent),” said the RZS.

Prices of other goods and services mostly remained unchanged.
