The head of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) main ruling coalition partner Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), Ivica Dacic, said on Monday he and President Aleksandar Vucic would decide whether their parties would run on a single election list after the New Year, adding the talks would not include a presidential candidate.

Presidential, early general and Belgrade elections are due on April 3, 2022.

Dacic said he and Vucic, the SNS leader, would not talk about their candidate for the head of state since SPS „decision to have a joint runner (with the SNS) is definite. And Vucic also said our coalition would remain the same after elections, regardless of whether we would compete on a single or separate list.“

SPS leader said the talks would decide what would be more acceptable to the voters of both parties.

He accused some opposition parties of using the January 16 referendum on Constitutional changes „for warming up“ ahead of the elections, calling on people to vote ‘NO.’

„I understand that it is a political struggle, but they use lies. They say the changes envisage the abolition of a preamble stipulating Kosovo is a part of Serbia. That is impossible. The only part that is to be changed is dealing with the judiciary and nothing else,“ Dacic told the pro-regime Pink TV.
