Telekom Serbia CEO Vladimir Lucic confirmed that the state-controlled company is buying Globaltel from the owner of the pro-regime Pink Media Group Zeljko Mitrovic.

Lucic told Thursday’s issue of Belgrade weekly NIN that the deal was not made to compensate Mitrovic for loss of revenue because he decided to shut down the Zadruga reality show at President Aleksandar Vucic’s request or as compensation for Globaltel co-owner Sava Terzic for the termination of the contract between Kentkart and the Belgrade public transport company.

“This is a business strategy and the negotiations with Globaltel were started months before that contract was terminated and the decision to shut down the Pink reality show,” he said, adding that the goal is to take over the competition. He said the price is a business secret but denied that Telekom paid 17 million Euro for Globaltel.

Mitrovic’s Pink Media Group owns 55 percent of Globaltel, the remaining 45 percent is owned by Procescom d.o.o. in which Terzic has a 30 percent share. Terzic also has a 24 percent share of Kentkart.
