Serbia’s Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM) brought misdemeanor charges against the pro-regime Pink TV following Center for Investigative Journalism of Serbia (CINS) reports that this TV station’s election campaign show in which Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic emerges from a fridge is a violation of the law.

CINS said in July this year that Pink TV violated the law by broadcasting the show but that the REM failed to take action.

Charges were brought two months later, following an additional report by an REM expert team which, among other things, said that this show is actually an advertisement and that it lasted almost two hours instead of 12 minutes and that, under the law, the duration of advertisements on TV channels is limited to 12 minutes per clock hour.

In addition, the advertisement was not properly separated from other parts of the program, said CINS.
