Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to visit Serbia in January, Moscow’s deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov has confirmed in Belgrade, the Tass news agency reported on Friday.

“We see today’s talks as an important step in preparing Putin’s planned visit in January,” Borisov was quoted as saying following talks with Serbia’s Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic.

Borisov said Putin’s meeting with his Serbia’s counterpart Aleksandar Vucic would include the two countries’ cooperation in the energy sector, transport, infrastructure, industries and the civilian use of nuclear energy.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister added that “a particular focus will be on signing a package of bilateral agreements."

Putin’s January visit has been already announced.

That will be Putin's second visit to Serbia after he was present at the ceremony marking the liberation of Belgrade in WWII, in October 2014.

Putin hosted Vucic in Moscow on October 2 and  earlier in May this year.
