Spokeswoman of the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Maja Kocijancic said that the EU expresses regret over the decision of the authorities in Pristina to ban the visit of Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic to the village of Banje in the municipality of Srbica.
"We ask that all law enforcement agencies ensure the safety and freedom of movement for Aleksandar Vucic," she said.
According to Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Sem Fabrizi, complete dedication to the maintenance of peace and security of both Kosovo and Serbian citizens is required, as is wisdom and calm.
The Kosovo Liberation Army veterans had blocked all roads leading to Banje village, near Drenica, thus preventing the Serbian President from visiting this multi-ethnic village.
The Kosovo Government made a decision that Aleksandar Vucic’s visit to Banje village should be cancelled due to security risks.
Vucic then spoke to Banje residents via phone.
