Kosovo’s Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said on Monday Pristina should join the North-Atlantic Alliance and other security mechanisms and as quickly as possible, according to a statement from his office.
Haradinaj is in London for the European Union Summit on Western Balkans where he discussed the current security situation in Kosovo with the UK Defense Minister Colonel John Mark Lancaster.
Kosovo's Prime Minister asked for the UK support for Kosovo Security Forces (BSK) and the process of their transition into the armed forces of Kosovo.
The statement from Haradinaj’s office said Lancaster promised his country would continue to support Kosovo in its Euro-Atlantic integration.
“The UK played an important role in Kosovo and was one of the main patrons of its progress,” Haradinaj said.
He asked for the possibility of BSK’s participation in peace mission as a part of the British troops.
“The bilateral relations between our two countries will deepen even further. I assure you that Kosovo firmly follows its road to the full membership of both NATO and the EU,” Haradinaj said.
