Serbia's football team defeated Costa Rica 1-0 in Group E of the World Championships in Russia.
The Eagles’ captain Aleksandar Kolarov scored a spectacular goal from a free-kick in the 56th minute.
“We acted as one. Aftera a difficult season, the players prepared for three weeks, they didn’t take a vacation and this spirit of fellowship was visible today. Perhaps the match it self wasn’t pretty, but one could see the compactness and fellowship. This is the only way we can play,” Serbia team coach Mladen Krstajic said.
More than a thousand fans at the Nikola Pasic Square in Belgrade watched the first match of the Serbian team in Russia.
The fans across the country watched the game, and all the cafes were full of fans.
