The Serbian government on Thursday officially appointed Marko Djuric to the post of Ambassador in the United States.

Djuric is to take over as head of Serbia’s embassy in Washington DC, following after Ambassador Djerdj Matkovic whose term in office expired earlier this year. According to the Foreign Ministry web site the current head of mission Andon Sapundzi, Minister Counselor servins as Chargé d'Affaires.

Djuric headed the government’s Office for Kosovo as acting director since 2014. He was officially relieved of that post at Thursday’s cabinet meeting.
