Fifteen new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Slovenia after 892 tests performed in the last 24 hours and there have been no new deaths related to this disease, the government in Ljubljana said on Saturday.

This is a slight decline in the number of new cases from Friday when 17 infections were reported. The new cases were recorded in 12 municipalities, including two in the capital Ljubljana where the infection was confirmed in a foreign national.

Currently, 22 patients are being treated in hospital for the novel COVID-19 coonavirus, of whom five are in intensive care.

Since the beginning of the outbreak in the country, 2,171 cases have been confirmed and 119 infected people have died. Currently, there are 231 active cases.

The Office of Prime Minister Janez Jansa said on Friday evening that all the necessary epidemiological measures had been taken after a staff member tested positive. Jansa had got tested several times before and was always found negative. He was not in contact with the infected person in his office and did not do a test this time, Slovenian media said.
