UNS: REM rejects media’s presence at its Council meeting due to epidemic Izvor: N1

Serbia’s Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) refused to allow the presence of reporters at the next session of its Council stating protections measures still in place due to the coronavirus epidemic, the Association of Serbia Journalists’ (UNS) said on Wednesday, the FoNet news agency reported.

UNS statement said that, according to REM, the media presence “would endanger the health of many,” and that the Body did not have a large meeting room for people to keep physical distance properly.

REM has been a target of sharp criticism by Serbia’s journalists and their associations and organisations for not reacting to complaints about the violation of media laws and rules mostly by TV channels with national frequency uncritically loyal to the authorities.
