Nova S TV condemned threats against talk show authors and anchors Zoran Kesic and Ivan Ivanovic by singer Aca Lukas.
“Nova S TV sharply condemns the public death threats against Ivan Ivanovic and Zoran Kesic through the Srpski Telegraf tabloid and demands an immediate reaction by state bodies,” a statement said adding that it fully supports both show authors and will provide all possible legal aid. Kesic and Ivanovic are highly critical of the authorities in their talk shows.
Lukas made death threats against both of them in a statement carried by Srpski Telegraf.
Lukas said that he would throw both of them from the 10th floor if something happens to his elderly mother, claiming that Kesic and Ivanovic had called the elderly to violate the curfew imposed during the coronavirus pandemic.
Both show authors denied the claim.
“I’ll see what I should do. For now I think the most important thing for myself and Kesic is to see if everything is all right with Lukas’ mother and as long as she is healthy we’re not in danger. I understand that if, God forbid, something happens to her we have a serious problem. I think the focus should be on Srpski Telegraf and its editor Sasa Milovanovic who has singled out Kesic and myself as friends of the virus several times and, what is very important for people to understand, especially those who do not get SBB programs, is that this is not true,” Ivanovic said.
“Why Srpski Telegraf did not contact myself and Ivan for a comment as the other side to ask if we really want Lukas’ mother to die is a question that will have to be brought up in court because the tabloids know very well that I always return calls and reply. I know they have stories prepared for everything but as long as they report what I said verbatim I will always reply. This time they didn’t call me. What is positive in this horrible story is the fact that the mother does not take after Aca Lukas and that she watches good quality things. I wish her good health and can only say what I have been saying from the start and what Ivan and I and our entire crew have been saying in all our shows – Stay at Home! Long Live Pensioners,” Kesic said.
The Nova S statement said that Srpski Telegraf had joined in the campaign of ruthless lies being waged for weeks against independent media who have been reporting on the coronavirus crisis in the most professional way possible.
“We are witness to campaigns being waged by the tabloids against N1 TV by publishing senseless lies that it is against the doctors and the campaign being waged against Nova.rs portal journalist Ana Lalic. The target now are Ivan Ivanovic and Zoran Kesic who, in their unique way, have pointed out everything illogical, every lie and mistake and have appealed for common sense. Now it has taken a step further and is carrying death threats through statements by some singers. We are demanding the most urgent reaction by the police and prosecution because the law has to be equal for all and the spreading of false news and death threats is a crime,” Nova S said.
