Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin said on Thursday that Tanja Fajon MEP should stop “helping” Serbia.
“If no one listens to Fajon in the European Union and if she can’t help we would be grateful if she would not hinder us. That would be a big help from her,” a Ministry press release quoted Vulin as saying.
Fajon told Belgrade daily Danas that the coronavirus pandemic should be an excuse for governments to impose unlimited powers, adding that governments that declared a state of emergency should be monitored. The Serbian authorities declared a state of emergency to deal with the pandemic.
Vulin said that Belgrade expected Fajon to ask the European Parliament to give Serbia equal amounts of aid as EU member states. “Instead, the Slovenian parliamentarian in the EU is lecturing us about democracy and explaining why we should not manage our borders,” he said.
