More than 60 medical and other staff at the General Hospital in Leskovac are in isolation after being in contact with a doctor who traveled to Malta.

The 23 doctors, 33 nurses, three cleaners and two kitchen staff include the deputy head of the hospital, that Mayor of the southern Serbia city confirmed. “We have seven doctors and 57 nurses remaining after a doctor who traveled to Malta came home and didn’t tell anyone that he was on the trip,” Mayor Goran Cvetanovic said.

Hospital chief Nebojsa Dimitrijevic said that there are five patients on the infectious disease ward, adding that two other wards are being prepared to receive coronavirus patients. He said the wards with the most serious patients, including the coronary unit have not been affected.
