Darija Kisic Tepavcevic, Deputy Director of the National Torlak Institute, said on Wednesday, that the mass testing meant that everyone known to had been in contact with those confirmed infected with coronavirus would be tested, and President Aleksandar Vucic announced some 3,000 people would be checked in the next ten days the Beta news agency reported.

Speaking to the Prva TV, she said that would mean an intensive search for every potential “infection reservoir,” adding the crucial fight reminded the same – isolation and social distance.“

"The point is that we all behave as we are potential virus carriers,” Kisic Tepavcevic said, adding she was optimistic because, according to her, the country, in coordination with the visiting Chinese experts, was on a right path in fighting the pandemic.    

Aleksandar Vucic, Serbia's President, said later on Wednesday, he expected the number of confirmed infection with coronavirus to be on the rise as of Wednesday, adding that was the reason to increase the testing, the Beta news agency reported.

 He added that in the next ten days up to 3,000 people were expected to be tested, and that was the best way to tame the pandemic and prevent the virus from transmitting to more people.

"That's something (the increase of the number of infected) we have to face, and it's better to do it (the testing) as soon as possible… More people are on respirators..," Vucic said.
