Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic said late on Tuesday that of tomorrow from 10 am people older than 65 in urban areas were “absolutely banned from going out,” while in non-urban areas the limit would be 70 years of age, N1 reported.

The ban applies to all people as of Wednesday from 8 pm to 5 am. No one can be in the street except those on duty or workers in night shift.

“We are introducing this to prevent the spreading of the virus,” Vucic said, adding that “we only want to protect you, nothing more,” addressing the pensioners.

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic told news conference with Vucic that the European Union offered help to Serbia when it would be possible, “but at the moment they don’t have those things for themselves.”

He said that local administration would try to organise young people to reach all households.

Vucic announced that specialised supermarkets would be opened for pensioners on Sundays from 4 to 7 am when there were no people in the streets, under special rules with masks and the spacing between them.

The Army of Serbia will control all border crossings, hospitals and migrant centres, Vucic says.

The Government earlier sharpen measures for gatherings and staying indoors and in public places and banned export of all medicines.
