The Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Montenegro Littoral Bishopric said on Friday that it was temporarily discontinuing the processions in protest over the law on religious communities in line with government measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

The Bishopric issued a message of “comfort and encouragement to all the faithful and people of good will”, saying that similar epidemics had appeared during the history of the Church and were overcome through prayer and with God’s help.

The Bishopric has been organizing processions twice a week since the start of the year to protest the new law which its says allows the authorities to seize church property.
