The European Union High Commissioner for Foreign and Security Policy Joshep Borrell discussed on Friday with Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic, his Kosovo counterpart Hashim Thaci and Pristina’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who should be an EU special envoy for the Belgrade – Pristina dialogue on the normalisation of relations the Beta news agency reported.
Borrell talked to the three by phone separately.
His office said he told them that “the appointment of a special envoy shows the importance the EU and I give to that region and the stabilisation and progress on the way to the bloc’s membership.”
“Borrell considered with them the decision to appoint a special representative for the dialogue and the Western Balkans,” his office added.
It said Borrell “reiterated that he is personally engaged and strongly committed to the European perspective of the Western Balkans and his mediating role in the Belgrade – Pristina dialogue.”
