Kosovo President Hashim Thaci posted a copy of a letter from US President Donald Trump on the 12th anniversary of the declaration of Kosovo’s independence on his Twitter account.
“I highly appreciate the inspirational congratulatory letter from President Trump on 12th anniversary of Kosovo’s independence. We will be forever grateful to the USA and the president for the tremendous leadership and support to Kosovo,” Thaci Tweeted.
The copy of the letter attributed to Trump (which was not on a White House memorandum) said that Washington and Pristina share a commitment to see Kosovo develop as a democratic country.

“The strong bonds between Kosovo and the US have ben forged by a shared commitment to Kosovo’s development as a sovereign, independent, multiethnic and democratic country…. We look forward to your continuing efforts to advance peace, justice and prosperity for the people of Kosovo and the broader Western Balkan region. We wish you success in the coming year as you focus on normalizing relations with Serbia, strengthening the rule of law and creating conditions for vibrant private sector growth,” the letter said and added that “your country’s future is bright. The US remains invested in our strong bilateral relationship”.
