More than half of Serbians would vote to join the European Union and just under a quarter would be against membership, Serbia’s European Integration Ministry said on Wednesday citing the results of a poll it conducted.
According to the poll, 54 percent would vote for EU membership, 24 percent would vote no, 12 percent said they would not vote and 10 percent said they don’t know how they would vote.
Minister Jadranka Joksimovic said that the poll results show that the trend of support for EU membership is continuing, and recalled that last year’s poll showed almost identical results.
She said that in 2014, a ministry poll showed that 46 percent were in favor of members and in 2017 52 percent. The trend continued in 2018 with 55 percent and in 2019 with 53 percent.
The poll European Orientation of the Citizens of Serbia used the EuroBarometer standard to poll 1,050 people over the age of 18.
