Serbian Internal Affairs Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic on Wednesday denied opposition claims that a large number of people were taken off the electoral rolls.

He said that the the number of voters is almost the same as for the presidential elections in 2017, denying claims by Dveri leader Bosko Obradovic that the names of up to 2.5 million people have been taken of the electoral rolls.

The minister said that voters can easily check to see if they are registered to vote and added that Obradovic’s claim is a sign of fear because “the opposition is afraid that a large number of people will turn out to vote and they have nothing to offer”.

According to Stefanovic, the electoral roll system is transparent.
