The newly opened Nis-Istok toll gates shut down on Friday following a power failure, leaving columns of cars waiting to get off or on the highway, N1’s correspondent reported from the southern Serbian city.
The Juzne Vesti portal reported that some drivers were stuck at the toll gates for hours and added that the traffic police were pulling truck-trailers off the road.
Eight new toll booths were opened at the Nis-Istok toll gates on Thursday even though two of the four gates have not been completed. Reporters covering the opening said they saw a generator producing electricity for the toll booths.
The backlog of vehicles reached to the center of Nis.
