Aleksandar Terek from Zrenjanin, Serbia who was on the ship at the time of the pirate attack at the Gulf of Guinea, has returned home.
“I escaped. It was horrible, but I'm ok,” he said briefly flr Blic daily upon landing on Belgrade Airport.
He noted that he managed to escape the pirates.
“It was horrible, but the most important thing now is that I'm with my family. It's still too early to talk about what happened, so I'll talk after everything settles,” Terek said. “I managed to escape and get out of the situation. There was shooting but luckily everything turned out ok.”
Terek was on board a ship during a pirate attack, but he got away with a group of sailors.
Earlier on Saturday, Serbia's Foreign Ministry announced that a Serbian citizen was in a group of seven abducted sailors.
Seven people have been abducted by pirates in the Gulf of Guinea and eight have gone into hiding.
The crew members included nationals of South Africa, the Philippines and Cameroon. So far, no further details are known about the hijackers and their motives, Radio Television of Serbia reported.
