The former and current European Parliament rapporteurs for Serbia, Tanja Fajon and Vladimir Bilcik, will join in the mediated dialogue between the authorities and opposition in mid-November, the Beta news agency reported on Thursday.

Fajon, chair of the EP Delegation to the EU-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee, and Bilcik will be joining former MEPs Eduard Kukan and Knut Fleckenstein to mediate the second round of talks between ruling and opposition politicians on election conditions on November 14-15. That meeting is expected to review any progress in government efforts to improve election conditions, new government proposals as well as campaign financing and the media.

The first round of the talks was held on October 9-10 following an exchange of letters between EP Foreign Policy Committee Chairman David McAllister and Serbian Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic.

The opposition Alliance for Serbia (SzS) refused to take part in the talks. The SzS has started a campaign calling for a boycott of next spring’s elections.
