The northern arm of Corridor 10 through Serbia, from Nis to the Bulgarian border has finally been completed, an N1 TV crew reported after driving down the road before it was officially opened to traffic.
The construction of the highway was finished after several delays… but not quite since some work still has to be done after President Aleksandar Vucic opens the highway on Saturday, November 9.
In earlier years, work was repeatedly suspended due to landslides and construction sites on soft land.
A geological survey of the terrain has never been done or at least has not been made public which is why even now there is a fear of slippage on some sections of the road. All the delays raised the cost of construction significantly, but the final cost of the highway has not been disclosed yet.
