The UN war crimes tribunal in the Hague has issued summonses for more than 100 former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) troopers, Pristina-based Zeri daily said on Thursday.
The daily quoted the Presidnet of the KLA Veterans’ Association Hisni Gucati who confirmed that the summonses had been sent by the Specialist Chambers for war crimes committed in Kosovo. He said that he expects the first indictments to be raised later this month.
Zeri reported Kosovo Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri as saying that he had been summoned to appear before the court as a witness two weeks ago. Tahiri said that the court is having problems with some of Kosovo’s laws, adding that some of the people summoned are unable to travel and need a defense which the government has to provide.
