The rule of law remains only in traces in Serbia, with the State Prosecutor's Council and the Supreme Judicial Council not protecting the integrity of the judiciary and the prosecution, while individuals from the judiciary are crucified in public by the ruling party's mechanism, Vida Petrovic-Skero, the president of the Centre for Judicial Research, told FoNet.

Former President of the Supreme Court of Serbia, Petrovic-Skero also noted that there is no more time for a serious legal change of election conditions, since the elections will be held in the spring.

Regarding the announcement that the European Parliament will mediate the dialogue between the authorities and the opposition and discuss topics already regulated by law, she pointed out that the problem is that laws are passed in accordance with wishes, not needs.

She noted that the laws themselves would not half as bad if they were implemented correctly, in which case Serbia would not have a problem with closed media outlets and its judiciary.
