An official of the Civil Rights Defenders organization said on Friday that some people believe the LGBT community in Serbia is demanding more than the human rights guaranteed by law.

The organization’s Director for Europe Goran Miletic told a news conference that there are people who believe the LGBT community wants some new rights and not just the rights it should enjoy under the law.

He warned that populism in Europe could bring a regression in terms of the rights of the LGBT community.

He said that he has been told by officials of the Ministry of Labor, Social and Veterans’ Affairs that a law on registered partnerships would be adopted, adding that “it’s just a question of when and how”.
