Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic attended the 75th anniversary commemoration of the World War 2 liberation of Luxembourg on Tuesday, a week after a ceremony in Poland to mark anniversary of the start of the war in 1939 which no Serbian official was invited to attend.

The Serbian authorities were not invited to the September 1 commemoration in Poland. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that he was not inivted because “Serbia has to be punished for being an ally of Russia”.

Brnabic said she was honored to attend the event, adding that the invitation to attend was an exceptionally important signal and recognition to Serbia for its struggle against fascism. “Thank you on behalf of the people of Serbia for remembering our sacrifice in the first and second world wars. That means a lot to us,” she is quoted as saying on the Serbian government web site.
