The Journalists Association of Serbia (UNS) said on Saturday that it asked the International and European Federation of Journalists (IFJ and EFJ) to support the requests of a TV owner for fees paid by regional televisions to be harmonized with their revenues and to meet with Serbia’s President.
The owner of Channel 9 Novi Sad television, Maja Pavlovic, has been complaining about the high fees regional television broadcasters are paying to copyright and phonogram organizations (OFPS and SOKOJ), the Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (REM) and "Emission technique and connections ”(ETV).
In a letter to the international associations, the UNS reminded that Saturday was the 13th day of Pavlovic’s hunger strike and expressed concern about her health. It also said that a conversation with the president would help resolve the situation.
This is Maja Pavlovic's third hunger strike. The previous one lasted for 23 days and was interrupted after a public meeting with Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, who promised to do everything in her power and in accordance with the law to help her.
