A displaced Kosovo Serb who was arrested on Saturday at the Jarinje crossing was put in 48-hour detention, attorney Miro Delevic confirmed for Srna news agency.

Kosovo-based Prosecutor’s Office said Goran Stanisic is suspected of killing several dozens of civilians in Lipljan municipality, during the Kosovo war in the late 1990s.

“A session of the Special Court’s Trial Chamber, which will discuss Special Prosecutor’s request for one-month custody for Stanisic, will take place within next 48 hours,” said the lawyer.

He expressed concern over a possibility that his client would be put in one-month detention but he added that will be able to present more details after he gets a response on the reasons why Stanisic was put under arrest.

Kosovo’s Special Prosecutor’s Office said on Sunday that the suspect was put in Pristina detention centre, where he will be interrogated by a competent prosecutor, and that the Court will be asked to order one-month detention.
