Rector of the Belgrade University, Ivanka Popovic, said she was not aware that she or the president of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts were nominated for mediators between the government and the opposition in the negotiations on establishing a dialogue, Blic reported.

“I wasn't aware of that, but I support all actions that would lead to a public discourse based on the exchange of arguments and to a debate conducted in a polite way," Popovic said in an interview with Blic.

She said that the case of the Doctorate of Serbia's Finance Minister Sinisa Mali has already done enough damage to the reputation of the institution he heads, because it showed all the inability of the University of Belgrade to efficiently address sensitive issues for which there is no elaborated procedure, and added that all this has been taking place for the past five years.
