The permanent conceptual installation named monument to peace “One Day...” by the world-known artist, and the widow of the Beatles’ John Lennon, Yoko Ono was revealed in Serbia’s northern city of Novi Sad on Friday, N1 reported.
The monument is one of the key parts of the “Fortress of Peace” programme realised in cooperation with the EXIT Festival and co-financed by the “Novi Sad 2021” Foundation and the Serbia’s Oil Industry (NIS) company, to mark the centennial of the Versailles Peace Agreement and the end of the First World War.
The sculpture was made in the form of the traditional Serbian boat “sajka.”
“Peace is our power. Peace in the world and peace with the world. I love you,” Yoko Ono said.
The founder and the director of the Exit Festival Dusan Kovacevic said it was a symbolic gesture because “a hundred years ago the war started from this region and we now send the message of peace.”
