Belgrade hosts the 9th Fair of Weapons and Military Equipment “Partner 2019,” with 128 exhibitors, 32 of whom are foreign companies, the Beta news agency reported on Tuesday.
Serbia’s Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin said this industry’s export in 2018 was over 500 million dollars.
He said the visitors would be able to see the exhibition of the defence industry “which has the development and economy as its primary task, but above all the duty to equip, arm and prepare the Army of Serbia for the defence of freedom.”
Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic attended the opening ceremony, joined by Milorad Dodik, the Chairman of the Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency and de facto Bosnian Serbs leader.
Vucic said Serbia paid 105 million Euros for nine Airbus H-145m choppers for the Army and police, adding new purchases from the same company were planned. He said the police would get three Super Puma helicopters “the best and most expensive helicopters we could order,” also from the Airbus.
