Sewers for flooded suburbs are huge investment, Belgrade mayor says Izvor: Tanjug/Zoran Žestić

The construction of sewer systems in several Belgrade suburbs will cost about 50 million Euros, Mayor Zoran Radojicic said on Tuesday, a day after Serbain President Aleksandar Vucic promised to build sewer systems for suburbs on the left bank of the Danube.

The mayor told TV Prva that the sewer systems would be a huge investment and added that the flooding in the city following heavy rains should not be used for political purposes.

“President Aleksandar Vucic had a spontaneous meeting with the citizens and everyone agreed that this is a huge problem which no has resolved to date,” Radojicic said.

The situation has improved and the water is receding, he said and added that municipal commissions will assess the damage and everything will be done to to pay compensation.
